This just in… photos of the Living Willow Structures project that took place during the Ashevillage Day of Action.

At the heart of the “Ashevillage, in Action” volunteer day on Saturday, June 21, was the work performed by 12 recently trained teenagers and their professional green mentors. It was one of the first successes of the Asheville Green Opportunity Corps (Asheville GO!), a community-based effort gaining momentum under the leadership of West Asheville residents Dan Leroy and DeWayne Barton. The project, supported by a grant from Progress Energy’s Community Energy Advisory Council, demonstrated how Asheville GO! hopes to help people in the community while providing green collar job opportunities for young people.
