This week on 103.5 FM WPVM‘s Thursday Morning Collaboraform, visionary-mover-’n'-shaker and instigator of the Ashevillage Building Convergence Janell Kapoor was interviewed. Janell talked about a whole lot more than just the big event happening June 19-21. She talks about herself, everyday people who inspire, and living in community.
Fresh off the airwaves, Janell Kapoor’s interview with Veronica Gunter of WPVM’s “Making Progress: News for a Change” that we posted about yesterday. Enjoy!
If you’re out of the Asheville area, WPVM also streams their programs as well as podcasts, so you’ll have another chance to hear the latest from Janell if you miss the broadcast tonight. We’ll mirror the podcast when available, so stay tuned to WPVM and the Ashevillage blog.
Local Ashevillager, Janell Kapoor, has worked since 1997 to promote sustainability. As the founder of Kleiwerks International, Janell has helped to educate urban and rural villagers from 25 countries on natural building with indigenous materials. Along with numerous volunteers and the Kleiwerks’ sister organization, Ashevillage Institute, Janell has worked to organize the first ever Ashevillage Building Convergence.
Janell will lead one of many community projects at the Ashevillage Institute during the ABC. Participants will learn about adobe brick and cob making, as well as earthen plaster. As the ABC draws to a close on Sunday, June 22, Janell will join Starhawk and Julia Butterfly for a panel presentation on Women & Sustainability at the Women’s Time for Our Power Conference held at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium.
