Missed your 2008 events but what a worthwhile cause. Asheville is a great town (I live here, too) ... hopefully we'll be able to keep it green.

I'm currently working with Nickelsville in Seattle Washington and am pondering the ideas of City Repair and the principles of Permaculture and how about a hundred people in fushia colored tents all crammed into a fairly small parking lot can create this community spirit to aid them in their search for security and sobriety, a continual struggle in a homeless community.

My ideas are to create space that is shared by the homeless and the housed together, so that the dividing line between them isn't a 100 foot dropoff.

if I could figure out how to present stories told live by the people their to the community, in a way that enriches everyone and provides a little warmth for community.

One was a story circle about homelessness, to help ease the people who now may be losing their homes, to not be so scared of the people they may be with very soon.
And to regain the humanity that has been lost by the people on the streets, by their continually being ignored, ignored, ignored.

Any comments? Suggestions?

Very inspirational. This presentation is worth watching, whether you're a participant in Ashevillage Building Convergence or not.

The title could be more catching though. I stumbled on this video by 'accident' and certainly didn't expect this video to speak to me like it did.

Don't believe in accidents? Me neither... haha.

Janell is an amazing person. The whole AshVillage Convergence is incredible. Tremendous credit goes to Janell and all the many long hours and long days for months at a time that she has put into this project. All the individuals involved in this project did a fabulous job and it showed in the results.

Asheville is an amazing city and always attracting interesting residents, visitors and city wide activities. Time will tell how far reaching these ABC projects will be, but from all accounts it was a major triumph.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this project. You deserve lots of encouragement for getting this wonderful vision off the ground and making it a success.

ATS is about to conduct an extensive Transit Master Plan study, which will provide the hard data needed to improve public transit for Asheville. If you'd like to be involved in this process, a good place to start would be to attend the Transit Commission meetings - which happen every 2nd Wednesday @ 4:30pm in the Fire-House on Pack Place.
