ABC story in the Citizen-Times

The Asheville Citizen-Times.com has a nice story on the ABC, reprinted below.

Join the Ashevillage sustainability project

ASHEVILLE — The Ashevillage Building Convergence, a three-day citywide celebration and collaboration of what’s beautiful, practical and life-affirming about sustainability, will be June 19-21 in Asheville.

As part of ABC, Ashevillage in Action will be a hands-on project day June 21 with a sampling of the many local sustainability projects that already exist in Asheville.

All projects take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Bring your own bagged lunch and water.

Here’s a sampling:

  • Work to create a water catchment system for an outdoor sink at Dickson Elementary. Students will use the sink to wash the veggies from the Dickson Community Garden. Meet at the school at 10 a.m.
  • At Vance Elementary, get muddy along with other kids and families while you build an earthen shed for the kids at Vance, who will store their Peace Garden tools in the shed. Meet at the school at 10 a.m.
  • For older kids (8 and older), the Asheville Mural Project is an opportunity to be part of Asheville history.

Hosted by Arts2People, participants will help to create mirrored mosaics that will become part of the long awaited Lexington Gateway Mural. Meet at 10 a.m. under the Interstate 240 overpass on Lexington Avenue.
