The Bountiful Cities Project hopes to promote cooperation and build community through promoting the use of public spaces as gardens where the public can grow, harvest and eat their food together. Educational projects on gardening and permaculture are also included in the work of this organization. Three local gardens are currently part of this vision. These include the Joyner Street Garden, Pearson Drive Community Garden and the Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park. [Map] On Saturday June 21, Bountiful Cities garden project sites will host volunteer experiences as part of the Ashevillage Building Convergence. Bring your Play clothes, water, sun hat, rain gear, bagged lunch. Call (828)257-4000 for more information. Come on out and be a part of something worthwhile for the community and the individual!
